Statistics have shown that the world population has experienced a great increase of obesity and overweight rates during the past few years, and this is true among all age groups and both genders.

One of the biggest reasons why this is happening is simply because individuals nowadays tend to consume a lot more fast food but fewer fruits and vegetables. One of the other reasons that lead to obesity and getting overweight is due to the sedentary lifestyle of spending too much time in front of computers, TV, and playing video games.

However, obesity is really a huge public matter. Being called names, and not being able to discover the right clothes are some of the real difficulties faced by people who are overweight.

The bombardment of celebrity media on overweight individuals seems to keep the social stigma alive and well. It is so tough for overweight individuals these days; if you watch TV or read magazines, you know that everybody would like to have a physique like that of a super model. That everybody would like to look a particular way.

It has been reported that airlines are thinking about weighing individuals when they buy their tickets and charging individuals by the pound! They also have proposed charging for two tickets for any passenger who cannot get the arm rest down in a single seat.

I definitely believe being overweight and obesity are issues we should take seriously. Not for the vain self indulgent reasons portrayed by the media, but for the serious health risks which come with it.

While I do not agree with stigmatising people who are overweight, I believe making the condition appear normal is just as poor.

The most common way that can lead to weight loss is to decrease our intake of fast foods, eat a lot more fruits and veggies, increased physical activities, and fewer moments with the TV and PC.

If you’re capable, it is advisable for you to consult a nutrition specialist. You should be aware at all times on which foods are nutritious and which aren’t because diet myths are very abundant. You should do your greatest to only have nutritious food in the house or at work because keeping junk food and seeing them will only lure you to consume them.

I also believe that the greatest thing to do to conquer this social stigma against getting overweight is for them to accept themselves for who they are, and that it doesn’t matter what they look like; that they have to consume better for health reasons.

Obesity should not be considered only a weight problem, but a health problem.

They should keep attempting. It is really a lasting procedure. There may be obstacles occasionally, but continue to do your best. They should stress individuals points they have to perform on. And attempt to be creative; what works for one individual may not work for someone else, but they should do what they can and then pass it on to others who may need assistance.
